Kids drawing too tiny?

I often tell students, "If you cannot (pretend) color a small detail or object with your pencil eraser, then it will not work in marker or oil pastel either."  They can relate to that visual and I usually get better results from them.

  1. I should try that! I usually tell them to draw at least as big as their hand for the whole shape (which some listen to) but I've never tried something for the small sections. Thanks!

  3. With younger students, I refer to Diego (animal rescuer on Nick Jr.) and his camera click and we want to Zoom in on the object, so we can see what it is. Then when we make landscapes we zoom out.
